Russia Downs Ukrainian Drone
Ukraine has reported that Russian shelling appears to be increasing in parts of the Kharkiv region, which was recaptured by Kyiv’s forces. Ukraine said that its forces killed 910 Russian troops in the last 24 hours. French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Zelensky and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Paris, where they pledged to support Ukraine. The White House has dismissed a blog post alleging that Washington was behind explosions of the Nord Stream pipelines. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the US “will continue to make judgments” on Ukraine’s military needs, including fighter jets. NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg said that if Putin wins the war, it will be a tragedy not just for Ukraine, but “for all of us”. Russian State Duma member Andrey Gurulyov has suggested that nuclear weapons should be used following a series of military setbacks.
