Three Russian military personnel were killed after a Ukrainian drone attacked Engels Air base in Russia’s Saratov region. They were reportedly killed by the falling wreckage of a Ukrainian drone after it was shot down, a Russian news agency said. Ukraine said that Russian forces shelled over 65 settlements in Ukraine on Christmas Day. Ukraine’s military said Russian forces launched more than 40 rocket attacks on Ukraine on Christmas day. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia has lost everything that was possible this year. Top Putin ally and Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said Russia’s nuclear arsenal is preventing war with the West. In his traditional Christmas Day message, the head of the Catholic Church appealed for an end to the “senseless” war in Ukraine. Iran’s top general said that Western claims about its drones being used by Russia show the “effectiveness” of its UAVs. A former Russian commander has slammed the Kremlin’s military plan in Ukraine, calling it “stupid stubbornness”
