According to the US military, the M/V Gibraltar Eagle, a Marshall Islands-flagged, US-owned bulk carrier, was hit by an anti-ship ballistic missile fired from a Houthi-controlled area of Yemen. The ship reported no injuries or serious damage and was continuing its route, according to the statement.

The vessel was 95 nautical miles south-east of Aden, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency, and vessels were warned to transit with caution. According to the British marine security firm Ambrey, the Houthis launched three missiles, two of which did not reach the water.
Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis have begun striking commercial ships in the Red Sea that they claim are linked to Israel or destined for Israeli ports, with the goal of assisting Palestinians in the Gaza battle.
Last week, US and British forces replied by carrying out dozens of airs and sea strikes against Houthi sites in Yemen, hitting a number of them.
The Houthi attacks and western airstrikes have fueled fears that Israel’s conflict with the Palestinian militant group Hamas will spread throughout the region.
The senior negotiator for the Houthis said on Monday that the group’s attitude had not changed since the US-led airstrikes on its installations, and that attacks on ships bound for Israel will continue.
“Attacks on Israeli ships or those travelling to occupied Palestinian ports will continue,” Mohammed Abdulsalam told Reuters. He stated that the group was still calling for the conclusion of the Gaza conflict and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the north and south of the Gaza Strip.
The Houthis raise their weapons during a protest outside the capital, Sana’a, against the US-led strikes. Israel has denied having links to vessels attacked in the Red Sea, and some foreign shipping lines have stopped cargo or moved to longer, more expensive routes.
The US military announced on Sunday that a US fighter plane shot down an anti-ship cruise missile fired by the Houthis at the USS Laboon in the southern Red Sea. “There were no reported injuries or damage,” the US Central Command said.
