Amid global geopolitical turmoil, US Navy’s new laser weapon shot down a target drone representing a subsonic cruise missile. The “historic test” was done using an all electric high energy laser weapon system in a first-of-its-kind demonstration. During the test, LLD tracked & shot down unmanned fixed-wing aerial aircraft, quadcopters, and high-speed drones resembling subsonic cruise missiles. Meanwhile, Russia and China are also working on developing advanced laser technology.
