US to develop Next-Gen Interceptors to Replace Stinger Missiles Shipped to Ukraine to Fight Russia

Ukraine War

As the Pentagon sends Stingers and Jevelins to Ukraine, the US Army has floated a bid to upgrade its Stingers. Reports say that the US is planning to replace Stinger missiles with a next-generation interceptor for Short-Range Air Defense (SHORAD) capability. The move comes as Pentagon believes that its existing stockpile of Stinger missiles is likely to become obsolete. Pentagon has reportedly floated an RFI for a new surface-to-air missile for the Army’s SHORAD system.
