US Defense Bill Drops Conditions for F-16 Sale to Turkey | Why is Biden Backing Erdogan Over Greece?

Military News

US lawmakers have dropped provisions that previously barred the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey. The provision added to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) in July prevented the sale of F-16 jets and upgrade kits to Turkey. The final text of the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), finalised on December 6, does not include the provision. The provision had conditioned the sale on the US verifying they would not be used for illegal territorial overflights of Greece. Biden had earlier backed the sale of the F-16s to Turkey after Erdogan backed Finland and Sweden’s NATO membership bid.
