U.S. – Japan Alliance – Exercise Orient Shield 2019

Exercise Orient Shield 2019

Exercise Orient Shield began in 1985 and is focused on bilateral planning, coordination, and building partnership capacity through training.

Exercises like Orient Shield help strengthen the U.S.-Japan alliance and show our commitment to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. OS 19 is a premier U.S. Army and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force bilateral field training exercise that is meant to increase interoperability by testing and refining multi-domain and cross-domain concepts.
