The First Special Service Force was activated in the summer of 1942. Composed of brave American and Canadian men, the force was one of the foundational units in unconventional warfare. Its members were forest rangers, lumberjacks, hunters, and woodsmen, and they were trained for every sort of battle in any kind of climate.
