HMS Royal Oak rested in the calm waters of the Atlantic Ocean in the quiet hours. At the time, most of the 1,200-man crew rested in their bunks, among them a young sailor. He was barely 18 and far away from his hometown. World War 2 had just begun, and the sailors were just getting accustomed to life aboard a ship.
