The war in Ukraine has led to larger concerns about a nuclear conflict between the West & Russia. Some experts have also raised concerns about Russia’s ‘Dead Hand’ device that could obliterate the West. The ‘Dead Hand’ or the ‘Perimeter’ is an automatic control system for a retaliatory nuclear strike. The system was part of the Soviet Union’s Cold War doctrine of mutually assured destruction.
