Russia Loses 23 Ka-52, 50% of its Helicopter Fleet – Why Putin’s Choppers have Failed in Ukraine

Ukraine has published several videos where its forces are seen shooting down Russian helicopters. In the eight months of the war, Russia has lost more than a quarter of its Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopters, as per the UK’s intel report. UK defence ministry’s report says that Putin’s forces have lost at least 23 Ka-52 choppers since February 24. According to the UK, the losses represent more than 25% of the Russian Air Force’s in-service fleet of 90 Ka-52s. The UK’s defence ministry report also reveals that it is “nearly half of Russia’s total helicopter losses in Ukraine”. Why Is Russia lossing so many of its attack helicopters?
