Russian officials in the annexed peninsula of Crimea have shut down the bridge that connects with mainland Russia. Ukrainian reports claim that Russian officials have fled the region amid fears of attacks on the Kerch bridge. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked those “who oppose the occupiers” hours after the explosions. In his nightly address, Zelensky also said the explosions in Crimea could have a number of causes, including incompetence. Ukraine has said that it sees the Kerch Bridge as a “legitimate target” in its attacks on Russian supply lines. Meanwhile, UK’s Defence Ministry says Russian military leaders are likely to be “increasingly concerned” about security in Crimea. Germany’s domestic intelligence has warned that it expects to see more Russian propaganda and espionage activities in the coming months.
