Ambush of the Irish Guards
On the 17 September 1944, Operation Market Garden begun; the largest Airborne assault in History. Spearheading the ground advance of the operation was the 2nd and 3rd Battalions of the Irish Guards. In today’s video I detail the initial advance of the two Battalions, with particular focus on the ambush of the Sherman tanks of the 2 Irish Guards just before Valkenswaard.
