Though the war in Syria has been overshadowed by Ukraine, the conflict in the country seems to have reignited. Any conflict between the Russian, US and Turkish forces in the country is likely to have ramifications in Ukraine as well. Experts say Turkey’s recent threats to unleash an airstrike on local US allies in Syria will benefit Russia’s Putin. As Putin’s war flounders in Ukraine, he is seeking to turn crisis into opportunity elsewhere, including in Syria.
