D-Day Squadron’s Departure Prep for Normandy

Squadron’s Departure

The D-Day Squadron is the American contingent participating in the Daks Over Normandy flyover crossing the English Channel to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day on June 6, 2019. The epic journey of a fleet of C-47s (military DC-3 aircraft) will honor the soldiers of the War. The D-Day Squadron departs from Waterbury Oxford Airport in Connecticut on May 19, eventually flying the Blue Spruce Route and traversing the North Atlantic.

AVweb contributor Larry Anglisano was on hand for the launch preparation and captured the formation training footage from the Flabob DC-3, caught up with the the D-Day Squadron’s Moreno “Mo” Aguiari for a look at the planning and execution of this complex mission and prepared this video report.
