Called by a coalition of European and Asian nations, the emergency meeting was intended to establish a ‘Global Demining Mandate’ for the Strait of Hormuz. However, the session quickly turned into a direct confrontation between the U.S. and China. The American ambassador presented satellite evidence of the IRGC’s ceasefire betrayal, demanding international support for expanded naval operations to secure the ‘Neutral Corridor.’ In response, Beijing used its veto power to block any resolution that would authorize ‘unilateral military action,’ instead accusing Washington of using the blockade to manipulate global oil prices. The halls of the U-N, once a place for de-escalation, have become a mirror of the naval standoff in the Arabian Sea—divided, fortified, and dangerously close to a total collapse.
