A UK military aircraft carrier was “repeatedly approached” by a Russian aircraft deploying sonar trackers in the North Atlantic last week, the Ministry of Defence has said.
Attempts by the British forces to contact the plane were met with no response during the incident on 2 July.
An MoD spokesperson said: “We can confirm that while operating in the Norwegian Sea on Operation Firecrest, the UK’s carrier strike group was repeatedly approached by a Russian ‘Bear-F’ maritime patrol aircraft.
