The Marine Corps is officially taking its robotic revolution into deep water. In mid-May twenty twenty-six, naval shipbuilder HII announced the successful delivery and sea testing of two brand-new ROMULUS-25 Unmanned Surface Vessels. This twenty-seven-foot autonomous interceptor boat is engineered to slip deep behind enemy lines completely crew-free. Reaching speeds over twenty-five knots, the stealthy craft boasts an incredible operational range of up to one thousand nautical miles. Designed specifically to support distributed maritime operations in highly contested island chains, this platform gives small Marine littoral units a persistent scout that can patrol dangerous waters for days without human intervention. By deploying these small, easily transportable autonomous hunters, the Marine Corps is building a phantom screening force capable of tracking adversary warships completely undetected.
