Battle of Hastenbeck
The Battle of Hastenbeck took place on July 26, 1757, during the Seven Years’ War. It was fought between the French army, commanded by Louis Charles César Le Tellier, Duke of Estrées, and the Allied army of Hanover and Great Britain, led by the Duke of Cumberland. The battle was a part of a larger campaign in which the French sought to conquer Hanover, an important ally of Britain. The engagement was characterized by a series of manoeuvres and counter-manoeuvres by both sides, with neither gaining a clear advantage.
