The Pentagon’s construction was completed back in 1943 in the #usa . This is a quick look back at how such a huge building came to be, why it was built, and why it got it’s iconic 5-sided shape in the first place. An Icon in #America History and its chief #military Building
“In 1941, as World War Two gripped the globe, the United States embarked on one of the most ambitious construction projects in history: The Pentagon. Designed by architect George Bergstrom and built by the Army Corps of Engineers, this massive headquarters was completed in just sixteen months. Spanning over six million square feet, it remains one of the world’s largest office buildings. Remarkably, due to wartime steel shortages, the structure was built primarily of reinforced concrete—including 435,000 cubic yards of sand and gravel dredged from the Potomac River. Today, it stands as a five-sided symbol of American military resilience and organizational power.”
