The BEST and WORST Tanks In Ukraine, and what they’re not telling you

The war in Ukraine has become the largest proving ground for modern tank warfare since World War II. For the first time in decades, dozens of tank families—from Cold War relics to NATO’s most advanced designs—have fought side by side on the same battlefield. And the results have been brutal.

In this first episode of our new series on how military equipment has actually performed in Ukraine, former Finnish Defence Forces officer Tuomas breaks down the real-world performance of every major tank type used so far. No myths, no fanboy claims, no propaganda—just hard data, geo-located losses, battlefield footage, and open-source analysis.

We look at how Russia’s T-55, T-62, T-72, T-80 and T-90M fleets have fared under drone-saturated conditions, minefields, top-attack munitions and precision artillery. We also examine Ukraine’s tank fleet—from T-64s and captured Russian vehicles to Western systems like PT-91 Twardy, Leopard 1A5, Leopard 2A4 and A6, Stridsvagn 122, Challenger 2 and the M1 Abrams.

Over 5,000 tanks have been visually confirmed destroyed, damaged, abandoned or captured since 2022. What does that tell us about survivability, crew protection, and which designs actually hold up in modern warfare?

This video answers the key questions:
Which tanks survived best under FPV drone swarms?
Which designs failed catastrophically under real combat pressure?
How do Western tanks compare to Soviet-era models in terms of crew safety and repairability?
And most importantly: which tanks deserve A-tier and which belong in F-tier?
