Russia is dramatically expanding its use of jet-powered strike drones in Ukraine, with reports suggesting more than 1,400 such attacks have been launched since the start of 2026. New variants including the Geran-3, Geran-4 and Geran-5 are reportedly being deployed to challenge Ukraine’s air defenses with greater speed, range and striking power. Ukrainian officials warn that these high-speed UAVs could soon account for a significant share of Russian attacks as Moscow adapts its battlefield tactics. The development comes as President Vladimir Putin claims Russian forces are advancing on all fronts, raising concerns about a new phase in
the war.
