Today in Romania, the Pro-EU PM Ilie Bolojan has faced a motion of no confidence which has eventually resulted in the motion to pass with 281 votes. This comes at the end of a period of political turmoil in Romania, after PSD has joined AUR in opposition. Friedrich Merz has ended his exchange with Donald Trump with a reconciliatory message: Donald Trump is essentially right. Also, the US doesn’t seem like they will be deploying Tomahawk missiles in Germany any longer and this leaves Germany with a “deterrence gap”. Russia and Ukraine have declared a truce with the occasion of Russia’s Victory Day Parade which will take place on the 9th of May. The US is continuing with the plan to withdraw 5000 troops from Germany. Iran has launched a large scale strike on UAE and other Gulf countries on the same day when Donald Trump has announced Operation Freedom. This in turn has resulted in a spike in oil prices.
