Iran released footage it claims shows anti-ship cruise missiles launched from coastal batteries toward the USS Abraham Lincoln near the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC Navy said the 100,000-ton carrier was targeted approximately 340 km from Iran’s maritime borders and claimed the strike group retreated over 1,000 km, assertions CENTCOM has not confirmed. U.S. Central Command released images of the Lincoln still operating at sea, though the images do not address whether the carrier sustained damage. The footage’s authenticity has not been verified and Tehran has provided no proof of impact. Days earlier, a U.S. submarine sank the Iranian warship IRIS Dena in the Indian Ocean, with Sri Lanka recovering 87 bodies and rescuing 32 survivors. Multiple commercial vessels have been hit or reported incidents in the Gulf since the conflict began, with roughly 200 stranded at anchor according to MarineTraffic data. Oil prices have surged sharply. The Pentagon claims it has sunk over 30 Iranian ships, a figure not independently verified, while Iran continues to claim control over the Strait of Hormuz.
