Legendary US JUNK: M113 APC at Russia Ukraine War
The M113, often called the “armored taxi,” remains a vital asset on the battlefield despite its 1960s origins. Its simple yet effective design allows it to transport troops, evacuate the wounded, and deliver supplies under fire. With a rear ramp for quick dismounts and thicker armor than Russia’s BTR-82A, the M113 prioritizes crew survival. However, it lacks the firepower of its Russian counterpart, which is equipped with a formidable 30mm cannon.
To bridge this gap, Ukraine is upgrading the M113 with advanced combat modules, including modern cannons, fire-control systems, and thermal imaging. These modifications are turning the aging APC into a more lethal battlefield machine. As the war evolves, so does the M113—proving that even a design from the Cold War can still dominate in modern combat.
