Based on the Boeing seven-thirty-seven airframe, this isn’t just a patrol plane—it is a flying supercomputer. The upgrade adds a massive suite of new sensors, including an advanced Multi-Static Active Coherent sonar system and improved signals intelligence racks. These systems allow the Poseidon to peer into the jagged, rocky coastlines of Iran, identifying the high-speed ‘Mosquito Fleet’ boats even when they are hidden inside fortified sea caves. By sharing this data in real-time with the ‘Ghost Fleet’ of unmanned surface vessels below, the P-8A creates a total surveillance blanket that makes it impossible for the IRGC to move without being seen.
