Vice President JD Vance is heading to Pakistan for high-stakes peace talks with Iran, warning that the U.S. is open to negotiations, but not if Iran tries to “play” the process.
As the talks begin in Islamabad, Pakistan has implemented unprecedented security measures across the capital. Military forces, paramilitary units and aerial surveillance have been deployed, with roads sealed and key areas locked down to protect delegations.
Pakistan is positioning itself as a key mediator, citing regional stability concerns and its ties to both the U.S. and Iran. But major challenges remain, including disagreements over ceasefire terms and ongoing tensions in Lebanon.
