G95 assault rifle to Panzergrenadier Battalion 122 – handover ceremony

On December 4, 2025, the first G95 HK416 assault rifles, successors to the G36, were handed over to the troops at the Grafenwöhr Training Area. The Deputy Inspector of the Army, Lieutenant General Heico Hübner, and the Head of the Armaments Division at the Federal Ministry of Defense, Vice Admiral Carsten Stawitzki, attended the ceremony. Approximately 300 G95 assault rifles were delivered to Panzergrenadier Battalion 122 (PzGrenBtl 122). The assault rifle is scheduled for widespread deployment throughout the troops starting in 2026. The Guard Battalion will also receive it.

In this video, a sergeant major and the commander of Panzergrenadier Battalion 122 explain, among other things, the differences and improvements compared to the previous G36 assault rifle. Close-up shots of the standard-issue G95 are also shown. The viewer then witnesses the handover ceremony. The speeches were significantly shortened and are available as a separate video. Musical accompaniment for the ceremony was not planned. Due to other commitments of Lieutenant General Stawitzki and Lieutenant General Hübner, as well as the wintry weather, the ceremony could not begin until shortly after 9 p.m.
