A major rift has erupted inside the European Union over how to use more than €190 billion in frozen Russian assets to fund Ukraine. Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has openly rejected Brussels’ plan, drawing a red line against any financial guarantees or loans for Kyiv. His stance, echoed by concerns in Belgium and opposition from Hungary, has exposed deep divisions within the bloc as the EU pushes ahead with controversial legislation to keep Russian assets frozen and advance a “reparations loan” scheme.
