German Fallschirmjäger and the Fall of Fort Eben-Emael 1940

On 10th May 1940, as thousands of Panzers and hundreds of thousands of men stood poised on the borders of Germany to begin a massive offensive into France and the Low Countries, 11 gliders carrying 85 elite paratroopers silently crossed the night sky.

Their target? A massive, state-of-the-art fortress — one of the most heavily defended positions on earth.
